Nov. 25th, 2010 04:40 amIt's 4am and I'm awake and NOT sneezing, shivering, or dumb from a severe sinus headache. What's that mean? TIME TO COOK! I'm behind! I needs to COOK!
Pie first. Then turkey. I have a reputation to live up to, you know. Not that I actually like it - my turkeys always fall apart in the pan while Bossman is trying to get them out to be carved. Everyone else is all "ohhh, so juicy and tender" and I'm looking at the thing wondering how my mother/grandmother/every other female in the US manages to cook a pretty turkey and serve it up on the table like a Norman Rockwell painting. Not mine. "Okay, you want a leg? Here - wait. Um, pass me the plate while I toss this bone in the trash... the bone just came right off and the meat is still there. I'll have to carve it." The guys all grin at me - they know it vexes me to be a cooking failure.
But the bird is awfully tasty.
I haven't decided what else we're having. fruit salad, mashed potatoes, and corn on the cob is a given, but after that I'm pulling a blank. Then again, that's really enough.
Here's hoping that the cold (flu, more likely) is already passing. I do feel infinately better than I did a few hours ago. And it is oh-so-nice not having a pounding head.
