(no subject)
Feb. 5th, 2012 08:29 amYesterday was fun - busy, exhausting, but fun. In fact, I retreated to our vehicle for a nap twice. (Which was another 'lovely' part of the day, snuggled under a silk/wool blanket on top of a thick pad of blankets on the back seat... no seat belt-connector bites for me! And the car is wide enough that I can lay all the way down and snug in like a kitten in full clothes hamper). I didn't see as much of the Arts displays as I'd hoped to - crowds are difficult for me sometimes, so the main display area was just plain overwhelming with its noise and sardine-like packing of tables and people. But still - I was able to see a lot that impressed me and that was delightful.
Friends were everywhere. There wasn't time to talk to anyone for more than a few minutes but boy was it grand to have those moments! Although the memory-loss side effect of the Gleevec was rather starkly brought home to me when I asked
baronalejandro to introduce me to a lady he was talking to and it turned out to be
luciab, who of course I know... for some reason, she just looked like a sweet and pretty stranger and I wanted to get to know her better. *rolls eyes* Nothing like having the Powers that Be set ya up for a slap on the back of the head! Before yesterday I hadn't really had such a tough day with the memory holes - thank goodness, it's not a regular thing, nor is it permament. I can forget a friend's name/face one day and be have no problem remembering it the next. And the object lesson for me brought home that perhaps my difficulties adapting to the work of the Golden Dolphin office aren't just a sign of me being stupid - perhaps I should cut myself some slack (and plan for the gaps!)
It was most marvellous to see
ragnvaeig and to meet her (handsome) guy,
smarriveurr, known as Thor-um...Thor-something... *cough* about that memory loss... anyway, he's got a Viking persona so he's all good as far as I am concerned. And I got to be there when
ragnvaeigand
attack_laurel met, which tickled me mightily, because sharp smart people should know each other and have a good time appreciating each other. And it sure looked like they did.
mmcnealy looked stunningly beautiful in her velvet gown (which I hadn't remembered from her elevation ceremony), and I had to grin at
baronessadriana wringing one last event out of her personal regalia before she and Calli step up as the Baron and Baroness of Windmaster's Hill and she has to put it in the closet for a few years.
duchessgrace had a lovely display (I didn't actually get to see it on the table, but since I'd seen the pieces already, I knew it would be lovely) and I really enjoyed hanging out with her off and on - even though she did call me a "nearsighted old hag" a couple of times. I got to spend some time chatting with Richard ffaulkes, who just makes me smile every time I see him, and of course I've already written about the bicycle conversation with
baronalejandro and
melaniesuzanne.
trimguy trapped me in my car in the parking lot for about 20 minutes, until I thought to call Ivarr (
arnbiorn's protogee) and ask him to ask my husband to come save me. My car door was closed, you see, while I was resting my eyes for a minute, and
trimguy's side door had been left open while he was unloading his goods. I couldn't open my door to get out! I had to sit there like an idiot until I could get someone else to come and close his door so mine could swing free.
There was more I meant to write about, but the well has run dry. Maybe later. :)
