Jun. 5th, 2014 12:49 amIn other, minor news (besides today being our 37th wedding anniversary), my oncologist confirmed that my chemo was effective and I am officially, really truly, in remission. I will need to go back for more frequent CT scans in the next little while as they watch for post-treatment returns and then I'll be upgraded to 'once a year' testing.
I will miss my CT tech. She's a doll. Early into my treatment I mentioned to her that I was on gleevec and it turned out that her father was too, for leukemia. He was having some of the same side effects as I was but hadn't read the pamphlet and didn't realize that they were side effects or that they could be controlled. She was so excited to learn that she could make him more comfortable! And she loved hearing about the things we do in the SCA. Every test was a nice chance to catch up with each other.
If she wasn't already so busy with work & family (and if I didn't fear it would be against her work ethics), I'd ask her if we could get together for lunch once in a while after I switch to once-a-year tests.
