Day three of being snowed in. It hasn't been a hardship - we keep enough supplies in the cupboards for a variety of meals. Well, I should write that it hasn't been a hardship for me. We're still out on our cable service. It is 'showing green' at the company's end but we've gone through two new cable boxes and have not been able to get past the stage for choosing our language - the box does not respond to any button being pushed at that stage. We have a technician coming out on Monday and in the meanwhile my husband is missing out on the weekend's playoff games leading up to the Superbowl. Poor man. He's been streaming bits and pieces of the games on the internet.

Our low temperatures have been creating more driving problems than solving them as there isn't enough sunlight to melt the snow and have it flow to the street drains. It just melts and puddles between ice/snow ruts and then refreezes again. But the worst of the lows are behind us, theoretically, and while the upcoming days are not forecast to be sunny they will achieve temps above freezing during the day. We should see some clearing soon. Around noon tomorrow, when there is the greatest amount of melting, we are going to attempt a grocery store run. Living on a diet which demands a high level of fresh foods daily means that we have frequent store runs. And, of all things, we're out of milk.

I have no idea if I'll be taxi-ing to DC on Weds. The girlfriend's father died today before she could complete her plans to get there. I don't know if she needs to make the trip to the embassy and am certainly not going to ask her right now. I asked my son to gauge the right time to bring it up and then relay the answer to me in the next couple of days.

Bossman and Opi shoveled the driveway this afternoon, at least half of it. The area that gets the most shade, between the parked car and the garage door, is still uncleared. I wouldn't mind if they didn't clear it as long as we are all careful about taking the trash or recycling to the bins. They are on the far side of the driveway by the garage so we'll be walking on sheet ice until that finally clears. But I don't think we'll have much that needs to be taken out in the next few days so we're probably safe not clearing that.

I have less than a week to create a pattern for, and then sew the actual, Mongolian del (deel) to wear next Saturday. I'd probably ought to get on that.
