Random thoughts from the weekend

* My husband rocks. And no, you can't have him - I'm keeping him.
* My friends rock too.
* Blowing my diet was worth it and a banana split makes a damned fine breakfast.
* Staying on my diet in the long term was re-inforced by my BAP** inability to reach most of the things on display at KASF because there wasn't room for me and any other person between the tables.
* Having only two panic attacks was an improvement although I felt really bad about not being as personable, or as supportive, as I wanted to be.
* Learning that a dear friend was dealing with a blown-out tire on the Interstate was best done after the fact. I'm grateful that she and her travel-companion were safe even though they missed more of the event than they deserved.
* I am permanently scarred and will never look at a colander & funnels the same way again.
* Judging was more, and less, difficult than it had been in the past.
* I am a picky, fussy judge...
* Texas Roadhouse has nummy cinnamon butter.
* Holding a grudge poisons not only you, but the circle of people you express it to. There is a shelf-life on "someone hurt/disappointed me" and it is just a tiny bit longer than that of fish... (Yes, thank you, I can see that beam in my eye. It doesn't invalidate the observation.)
* "Mongol mail" can lead to good dining.
* Thank you, thank you, thank you,
pinkleader, for posting so many good photos of what I missed!
* SCORED an Anglo-Saxon thrown & coiled pottery jar and am gonna, yessiree, carve a wooden lid for it so I can use it at Pennsic. Yah,
thatpotteryguy! You keep my addiction alive. And Arn didn't even flinch.
And yay Arn, for Sunday's fine, fake "Oops! Missed the rest area lane so I guess we'll just have to take this other road that leads to Potomac Mills - - - and their LEGO STORE!" Heh. Now we have a head's start on a certain son's birthday gifties... heh. And
mmcnealy got the cutiest little Duplo-block circus train for her little boy. I helped with a "Fire Chief" car. Because I just couldn't resist. Although if I were rich, he'd have the whole danged Duplo Castle set - and the zoo. And the dinosaurs. Definately the dinosaurs!
* I wish my headache would go away.
* I wish I'd done more at the event to help.
* I wish I knew who won the fabric I was allowed to donate...
* I seriously wish I knew how to make baskets - Magda & Aime have got me dying to get a copy of the Norse "backpack" for my kit now that I looked at their basketry. It was so pretty...
* I think it'd be fun to enter the Pent next year, or do a display based on the requirements, in a field completely and totally far from my own "usual" interests. I'm thinking that I'd really like to do something about a child oblate at a Benedictine monastery. I am intrigued with the idea.
