Angry

A year ago, termites swarmed in our master bedroom. I got a new Termite-treatment contract immediately and was warned, once they came out to treat, that there might be a second swarm because the stuff takes a little while to work.

Okay. Fast-forward to Feb 26 this year, when the annual inspection happened and I said to the guy, "Hey, see this hole, wait, these three holes in this wall? That's new. As of this week. That's termites." And he told me I was wrong. But I insisted that I wanted a new treatment anyway and one was scheduled for last Tuesday.

So Tuesday, I'm home waiting on the guy. I sit quietly in my house, well, in my kitchen, 20 feet from the front door. Half an hour after he should have been here, I call the company. "Oh," they say after 20 minutes of calling around and keeping me on hold the whole time, "He came and no one was home."

"No," I reply. "I was home, in a silent house. In fact, at the time he said he was here, I was washing the dishes and could almost see the front door."

"Oh dear. Well, we can re-schedule for you."
"Fine. You do that. And by the way, the holes in my wall now have little antannae wiggling out of them so I'd like that to be done as soon as possible."

The appointment was for 10:00 today. A note was written on the work order to make sure to knock, not just ring the doorbell.

At 9:20, someone knocked. Know who it was?

An inspector. "Oh no," he tells me,"We don't treat until I've given the okay for it, that's why I'm here. We can do the treatment, oh, how about next Tuesday? And oh by the way, that swarm that you are battling (vacumming up) in your bathroom - that won't be the last one because the treatment takes a little while to work..."

Can we say, "Angry?"

I though we could.

(And I still haven't managed to get to sleep at all since yesterday. I'm at the point of discontinuing the oh-so-effective Sudafed and risking the resulting sinus infection just so I can lay my head down and sleep. Then again, if I wait long enough, I'll collapse and sleep will be inevitable, yes? With no infection. Decisions, decisions...)
