Okay, play along with me. Some of you will immediately see where I am going with this...
So there I was this morning, getting ready to head out to an event in a neighboring group. Now it's still kinda chilly in the early morning and we have here at home the Big Baronial Thermos Carafe, a huge thing that holds I don't know how many cups of water. I think 80 or something. Anyway, the plan is to heat the water up at home, pour it into the thermos and take it to the event so folks can start their morning with hot tea or coffee. Good plan, huh? Yeah, some of you may already know where this is headed.
So I've got my big stock pot on the stove, full of water, getting a good boil on. The thermos is in the sink waiting to be filled. When it is time, I grab two hot pads, lift the stock pot and begin to pour. Oh - did I mention I was still in my pjs and terrycloth bath robe? That is important to the story...
So I'm not really tall enough to get a good lift on the big hot pot. As a consequence, the water is pouring out in a wide stream instead of a narrow one and only a third or so managed to get into the opening of the thermos. The rest splashed here and there. "There" being onto the front of my nice thick bathrobe. That highly-absorbent, belt double-knotted, nice thick bathrobe.
I am sitting here typing in between bouts of applying a frozen bag of - pork chop, I think - to my chest. I've parboiled my er, my... well, let's just say that I haven't experienced pain like this since my youngest was being weaned...
