Not wanted *sniff* *sniff*

A couple of weeks ago, maybe more, I sent a message trying to sign up for the Academy of St. Gabriel's email list, since that would be how I could become a member and find out which books I could ILL to transcribe from them name lists in order to increase our on-line heraldic name resources. But you know - I haven't received anything back beyond the immediate automated "our listmaster will respond to your request" and now, well, weeks later I'm thinking I could just as easily send out a message to the SCA heralds saying that same thing and see if I can help that way.
Sometimes, it is hard to tell the difference, from this end, between "OMG - Not Her!" and "We'll get around to answering that sometime but not now" but given their advertisement for new recruits followed by the resounding silence, I'm leaning towards believing that my skills are not needed there. Understandably - it doesn't really necessitate a great deal of knowledge to type long lists of names off of census pages or membership scrolls. But still, I kind of feel like I got to an opening interview and then lost the call-back.
