Aug. 14th, 2010 11:46 amFor all intents and purposes, it is the last day of Pennsic. Many folks are already gone and I expect the land to be almost empty by evening. Rain is due in this afternoon/evening and is staying until Monday or so, which adds to the urgency of those packing out.
I'm in the Mayor's office, playing "radio secretary" so the Communications department head can run around taking down equipment without having to come back every few minutes to check in someone's radio. I get to gut and behead the things, which is quite satisfying.
Being the Mayor's secretary has been wonderful. I'm truly going to miss this job. Even more than I've ever missed any other one, quartermaster or troll. I spent the last week carrying a small grain of regret that it was nearing completion.
I also carried a bit of pain. I can testify that developing a kidney infection while camping is not really something a person wants to do. Although all the stories about kidney stones that my pain evoked made me grateful that mine was just a simple infection.
Winding down. I can't wait to be home and in my own bed. My sweet, sweet waterbed...
