What ever happened to "Daffyd"?

stitchwhichWe held a heraldic consult table session at our Kingdom Arts & Sciences Festival this weekend. It was somewhat sad for me, as we were placed in an out-of-the-way room far from everything else and down stairs, so got few visitors. And I, of course, didn't get to see anything of the displays as I couldn't climb the stairs. But oh, the time we had with the few of us "on duty"! That was grand!
Our first visitor wanted the name "Daffyd". All of us were just fine with that, nodding our heads wisely about what a great choice it was... and then ka-BLAM! None of us could find it in any of the heraldic name sources. We know we didn't imagine the name - other members of the Society have it - but we decided it must have been one of those 'everyone knows' sort of names that actually is post-period. I noticed that it had not been registered to anyone from our kingdom after 1987.
So we all wondered, "What happened to the name Daffyd?".
While my forms are scanning I should breeze over to the Academy of St. Gabriel and see if they have any information about it there.
