Ya know, I know of nothing better to get folks to change their minds about the good/bad-ness of a particular practise than to get in their faces and tell them that they have no right to object to it, that it is all that is good and comes with gov't protection to boot, and that anyone who was raised to regard it as something private - not obscene, but *private* - is somehow against Motherhood, Children, Goodness and The American Way.

Good lord. Customs, my friends, are slow to change. Vehement strident la-la-la-I-can't-hear-your-contray-view statements are sure as hell not going to help anyone change an entrenched custom. Try a little kindness.
