In the SCA I've been noodling a new 'persona'. Well, new clothes from a new culture anyway. I'm not going to confuse my friends by adopting another name. I found an okay balance on the clothing (since 6th century Irish monastics didn't leave any clothing or barely any art to illustrate what they wore) I've settled on a dress, a veil draped as the Aglo-Saxon women wore, and a light coat which opens down the front. And a cross, assuming I can ever find one that will work for me.I found these two on etsy and am considering purchasing one of them. https://www.etsy.com/listing/531497820/2-large-antique-gold-ornate-cross?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=large or https://www.etsy.com/listing/463843823/medieval-cross-pendant-greek-metal-cast?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=large That last one is from Ethiopian sources but I think it is like early Irish are enough for me to 'get by' with, although I believe that the first one might be best, especially looking at the back of it.

A-n-d the dryer is buzzing. The buzzer array is currently broken - the only time it stops buzzing is when the door is open or whenever it is started on a new cycle. It is vexing. That is a long and loud monotone BUZZZZ-ZZ-Z rather than a short alarm-type sound. I'm going to try to remember to call the repair guy tomorrow.

I'm taking my youngest driving tomorrow morning. He's 34 and just got his learner's permit. Like many millennials, driving his own car and such has not been a priority. There is definitely a gap between his mindset and what mine was like at his age. We've been driving around the back areas of a local mall, using the delivery area as a 'road' for him to practice on. This time, though, I'm taking him to a sleepy neighborhood where he will actually have to drive on real roads. Once folks are off to work or school there is barely any traffic.

Been sleeping a lot. I believe that may be a side effect of the medication my GP gave me for depression. I can't take SSRIs so it is tough for him to figure out what to prescribe. I expect that to change once I see a shrink. And in this visit I will also get a referral to an endocrinologist. My glucose levels are too high and it is time to switch to something other than (or maybe with) Metformin. It's my own fault - I didn't bother with my food regime for over a year when the depression hit, and even now, I'm barely abiding by the recommended number of daily carbs. but even with heavily reducing carbs, I'm not going below 150bg, which is far too high. Man, I don't want to have to go on insulin! But I can't complain when this is self-produced.

I am excited about the new personas. Mine will be a secondary since most of the time will still be the Gwyneth. Agree with the habit...what little I did find out color wise was white but white in those days probably was not the stark white we know today. Still checking out info...not as quickly as I would like to be because of merchanting and other real life stuff. My persona will be a nun into herbs/gardening so her colors probably will be darker and have to check what fabric. While I would like linen, probably not - have a feeling that fabric was for higher ups. Maybe a linsy-woolsy type of fabric or coarse wool. At least coarse wool for the ionar or coat.

Hello, nice to meet you. Are you someone I know, or just found me through SCA interests on my profile? Either way, it's always nice to have more SCAdians around on my list!

yep, it's quieter around here. When I first joined half my reading page was SCA, but now I think there's only one other active. Alas.
