Fun for me!

Today is Project Day. It will be fun. Being creative is fun even when it is tedious or even (gasp!) boring, 'fun' hovers around the edges and creeps back in at odd moments. Arn is going to work on my new camp kitchen table/shelf. That will require a trip to Lowe's later on this afternoon, and he will ask me if I want to go. Now, going shopping with Arni is a bit of a challenge, as he's a slow, s-l-o-w shopper so it is somewhat like roaming the aisles with a two-year-old who refuses a stroller. I have to stop, turn, find him far behind me and go back. There are at least three side-trips into aisles to look for thing that he thinks he might remember he needs if only he can see that stuff there, and then there is the actual finding and acquiring what we really came there to buy. When I'm not in a hurry, it is enjoyable to watch his process. When I am in a hurry, well... Today, I do not feel like hurrying. And I do feel like skipping breakfast and lunch until he asks me about Lowe's so we can 'decide' to get a nice hot Dominico's sausage with fried onions and peppers from the cart in front. Yum. I shall have to get something accomplished so I feel that I've earned the risk (onions. Peppers. Tummy, can you handle it? You'd better, that's all I can say.)

My projects are not so red-letter. I've got one kitchen washcloth knitted. I used it as a gauge for the yarn. There is now one personal cloth made and a little bit on the next - I expect to have four knitted for myself by next week. Inexpensive cloth has been purchased for the five tunics I am contributing to my Nation's 'fund for hiring Mercs' and two lengths of it are in the washer. I plan on having all of it washed, dried, and cut by this evening, along with a tunic for myself which, like last year's "Pennsic tunics" will either be given to my husband or the Gold Key after the War. Every year I tell myself that I will have enough garb up to my standards for the following War. So far, I haven't reached my goal - but I'm getting closer. If I did not think that I'd need to wear pants again, I'd be done, actually, but my staff job necessitates loading and slinging quanities of purchases so I'd rather not do that in a dress. I'd meant to make a couple of Dels for myself but that is below the 'get the Merc tunics made' and some other things for folks, so maybe next year. Arn lets me borrow his Del if I need it so I'm covered for Family and Khan's Court.. it might not fit me well, but it is at least appropriate and I long ago gave up any ideas of 'flattering' where I'm concerned.

So... craft, craft some more, listen to good music, eat spicy goodness, husband-watch, settle down with the man to TV viewing when we're tired. It's shaping up to be a good day.

Oh - and "Superman Returns" is quite enjoyable. Shawn was a fabulous enabler.
