I am grateful

I am grateful for the cessation of pain, so easily acquired by a simple tablet washed down by a drink of water. I pray that those who can not, at this time, be gifted with such ease may soon be blessed with the same relaxation, the same relief, the blessed freedom to be aware of the little things around them rather than the heavy weariness that comes with unremittent suffering.
I pray this for their comfort, for the lightening of the burden of care and fear carried by their loved ones, for the shift in heart-wholeness that comes when the fight to continue living is not an overwhelming burden.
Please, Mother and Father, when I read a missive of anger and bitterness, let me remember the agony of the soul in the one who wrote it. Let me remember compassion that my response is tempered with love and understanding. Let me bring them a moment of humor or ease of spirit.
