stitchwhichI keep forgetting that crying oneself to sleep means waking up with a sinus headache and a stuffy face. Thank goodness for Sudafed! (Even if you do have to act like you are visiting a Parole Officer to get some.)
Norayn and Shilo surprised me with a cake, balloons, and the cutest 4 penguins made of marzipan, each with it's own personality. How sweet! I was so ignorant that I suggested getting butter out for the cake. I'd never seen a pound cake with walnuts in it before and thought it was like bread - had to be told that it was pound cake. Ignorance didn't interfere with enjoyment of the flavor, though. Yum. Rich goodness.
Thank you to everyone who wished me a happy birthday here and via email. You made my day brighter. Thanks to Elizabeth for dropping by and joining me for dinner, and to Magnus and Rabah for calling with birthday wishes.
I contacted the folks in the US who will be carrying the Oseberg Textile book and got permission to mass-mail their information to likely Lists - they wrote back and thanked me and mentioned another book that they carry, one on the Ribe dig, which is in my price range. I think later today between errands and visitors, I'm going to order it for myself as a birthday present. It sounds wonderfully intriguing! (And I believe there's a Horde/Pel/Laurel page I might check out, too.)
