The Diet Gods bapped me one in the gut last night.

See, yesterday was our 31st wedding anniversary. It was also the evening of our monthly baronial business meeting and Arni is the Seneschal so he runs that meeting. So I knew better than to think we'd skip it but was determined to celebrate somehow. My solution was to take a side-step from the Atkin's diet I've been doing and eat a slice of apple pie ala mode.

The stomachache started about three hours later. Like labour, it intensified throughout the night and into the morning, to the point that I became somewhat lightheaded and stupid from the pain. I kept feeling my gut, laying my hand over the most painful spot and saying things to myself like, "That's way too high for the appendix, too much in front for the kidneys, too low for the stomach..." It at least diverted me from, "OMG! I'm gonna die! Worse, what if I don't? Will this ever stop???"

It did finally fade. And now I know that going nearly carb-less for an extended time and then shocking my system with a sucker-punch of sugar is, shall we say, a baaaad idea.

And all I can think is that if it ever comes to happen, Marinus and Tir-Y-Don will get hindteat. Folks think we're too far now - how will being the designated fringe help us?

Answer: it won't. And if it goes as it did last time, we're going to be hearing a lot of "we want XX group, your neighbors, but we don't want your group."

It made me heart-sick last time around when it was said to my face.

Folks are suggesting two seperate 12th nights and thing like that - do they not understand that they are already supporting the idea of a split? That they are saying, "I do not intend to travel beyond Point X"?
