Opinions? (You know that I am not really knowledgeable when it comes to comparing computers.)
Keeping in mind that this will mostly be for heraldic purposes, I'm looking at

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1798026&CatId=4950
which features this:
AMD Dual-Core C-60 Accelerated 1.0GHz processor with TurboCORE Technology
4GB of DDR3 memory
320GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
11.6" HD Widescreen CineCrystal™ LED-backlit Display
ATI Radeon™ HD 6290 Graphics
Maximum Resolution: 1366 x 768
802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi CERTIFIED™ and 10/100 Ethernet LAN connectivity
1 memory slot (what is that? Not the USB slot, right?)
It comes with Windows 7 64-bit

But I'm also really leaning towards this one (since I happen to like HP)

It's refurbished - which I am actually more comfortable with, as I know all of its components have to be tested before resale.

Intel Pentium Dual Core U5400 1.20GHz processor
4GB of DDR3 memory
500GB HDD (HDD? Hard Disc Datastorage?)
13.3" LED Back Lit display/ 1366 x 768 maximum resolution
Intel HD Graphics
802.11b/g/n Wireless Networking
Screen Size: 13.3"
Processor Speed: 2.30GHz
Processor Number: U5400
Windows 7 Home Premium 32-Bit (we own Windows 7 64-bit, so I assume I can install that, right?)

[edit: I later found this: http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1988872&CatId=4965

WAIT! How good are Lenovos? Because there's one with 6GB DDR3
http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=1988872&CatId=4965 ].... GONE! It's GONE! In just a few hours! DANG IT!!!!

Okay, I found a Lenovo laptop from Best Buy that has a 4GB DDR3 w/a 500GB Hard Drive. Is that good? It's got a 6-cell battery and they claim 5.5 hours of continuous use before a recharge is needed. I can't believe that the one I found in TigerDirect was gone that quickly and the link in my last post now shows an HP. Just like that. In less than 4 hours. Geez.

And why is it that all the laptops are featuring Windows 7 rather than Windows 2010?
